The rainbow is a symbol for so many positive things: diversity, joy, hope. During the pandemic children where drawing rainbows on their windows and this also became a symbol for hope and to stand together as humans. The pride movement also uses the rainbow as a uniting symbol.
In "Portrait of Pride" the rainbow colors stand out against the black and white portrait. Illuminating only part of the face it shows that a lot still has to change in our society, but the hope is already there.
