This painting is part of the "Books on Canvas" Series. It is an interpretation of Edmund De Waal's "The hare with amber eyes", which is set in the Palais Ephrussi in Vienna. The palais can be seen in the background of the painting. It is a book about memories and remembering. Thats why I chose to paint a kid and used my own daughter as a model. The book touched me because it raises questions like "What gives items meaning?" and "What will be remembered of me?".
The painting does not only express love for my kids, but also my love for the city of Vienna.
