Clytia was in love with Apollo who rejected her. She then turned into a sunflower, that would always face into the direction of Apollo's sun chariot.

Now that story might not be the best example for women from a feminist point of few, but it is very poetic and inspirational. That's why this lady is inspired and named after this tragic heroine.
